Captain Doodle
Hello lovely folk, I have compressed my hours at work, so I have a day a week for artness which is amazing, the last few months I have been illustrating my first children’s book which is going to be published in a couple of weeks. It’s called Captain Doodle. Its quite different to alot of childrens books as in, its not pretty pretty illustrations, but they are full of heart and bright and smiley. The aim of the book is to inspire children to create their own worlds and stories and the author I am working with is an all round amazing human and I am in awe of the magic he can create with words.
Grimble the cat
So last wednesday was the first week where I have finished my illustrations and I woke up full of art and wonder, which mainly consisted of drawing this guy, Grimble the cat. He is a skeleton cat (yes i know cat skulls dont really have ear bones). Here is a timelapse of me drawing him.
I may turn him into a book. I have decided that the next thing I create illustration wise is going to be strange and beautiful and I think he is where this starts….
Strange and beautiful, well…. as we are here there happens to be a very very lovely song called strange and beautiful by a band called aqualung which I sometimes get lost in… Here we are… gotta love an earworm. Have a happy sunday folks x
